A look back at the TA

I never thought I’d say this… but I genuinely miss the Te Araroa. Perhaps not the trail itself, but the experience, the people, and the activity.

I’ve spent the last 3 weeks catching up with family and friends, cleaning out my sister’s shed and slowly repairing my body. I was inspired to make a video after Tom cut together his daily panoramas… so here it is – a look back at the Te Araroa 2017/18. Enjoy!

  1. An exciting, interesting, fulfilling journey, done in your own style…all any of us can ask from life. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!

  2. Loved your blog on your TA hike and I’m planning one of my own. I was a little disappointed in your post hike blog but this one puts things into prospective. Thru hikes are tough on both the body and mind, sometimes it takes a little away time to heal up and remember all the good parts.

  3. Oh wow… now you’re inspiring me to get over there sooner than planned in 2020. Looks a bit damp in places!
    Great vision thanks 🙂

  4. Thanks, sweetie…..Looking back is more fun….no blister, muddy trail?. wrecked shoes….and two neat fellow-hikers you had along the way….the best part is that you have seen the wisdom and also the joy, and many other reasons to do your adventures with…..and, guess what, it sure makes your old friend happy….I guess I worried an old mommy about your aloneness on trail…..oh, well, at least, as a friend who cares about you….I am so glad…..Love from old friend, Barbie in Southern California NEAR THE OCEAN….old surfers are happier near the life-giving adventures found in the ocean (except when it misbehaves and gets angry!….beautiful to watch, but forget surfing…..)…giggle…..Barbie Plourd

  5. Congratulations to finish the trail!!! We all enjoyed reading along. It was a difficult journey. Good job!
